Pictures of the past week

Memorial weekend started off with my cousin Christine's wedding in Des Moines on Saturday.

We stayed in a hotel for the first time with Isaac. He did great (7 hours of sleep at 6 weeks old - this was the first time that happened and I thought he was dead b/c he had never done that before).

Chillin in bed with brother

Isaac even managed some time to help Aunt Annie study for her boards on June 5th. Good Luck Annie!!!
So tired after partying all night at the reception.

On Sunday, we made our 4th annual trip to Adventureland. This year Grandma, Grandpa and cousin Jacob were able to join us.
Mom and I waiting for the boys to get done with a ride.

The 3 boys with my parents riding the Raging River.

Finally.... Shawn is tall enough to ride the Sidewinder.
He can now officially ride every ride at Adventureland.

We joined Shawn at the zoo for his class field trip on Wednesday

It was a very busy week. We ended it on Friday with a trip to the Amazing Pizza Machine in celebration of good grades and completing 3rd and 5th grade. Wow! 3rd and 5th.... Chris was in 1st grade when I met Chad and Shawn had just turned 4. They sure grow up fast!
Sadly, the boys had to leave for the summer on Saturday. They, along with Chad, drove 8 hours to meet up with their mom. They will have a busy summer helping their mom move from Wyoming to Kansas (still 8 hours away from us... we keep hoping the drive will get shorter but no such luck.... 3 places in 3 years and all are 8 hours away!). Anyway, without the big kids here, there won't be as many pictures of them to post, but we love them and miss them. They will be back in August.

A Day of Firsts

Isaac went to school to meet Shawn's class. This was a breaking point for Shawn. He was not really ever interested in holding or caring for Isaac up until I brought him to school. Once at school, Shawn asked to hold him and we had to pry him from Mrs. Torczon's hands - Her daughter lost a baby in utero in March :(

He really enjoyed it and has been asking to do more with and for Isaac ever since. And as it would naturally be....

Chris wants to do more too. So I coordinated it so that Chris could feed Isaac part of a bottle.
Isaac just stared and stared at him. He couldn't quite figure out who was feeding him, since it is usually me, with a few other people randomly feeding him. Chris did a great job!

Child of God

Isaac joined our Christian family on Saturday night May 16th.

Chad and I are so blessed to have a happy, healthy baby. We thank God that he joined our family. We'd like to say a special thanks to the family and friends who were able to share the day with us. Thank you also for helping us, praying with us, and encouraging us as we raise Isaac in the Christian faith.

4 and half weeks later

4 1/2 weeks old
This was one of Isaac's pictures we had taken when he was just 10 days old. At that time he weighed in at 9 lbs 10 oz. Today he is about 4 weeks older and he weighed in at 11 lbs 10 oz. He has gained two pounds and lost the baby baby look. He is eating about 3-5 ounces at a time and goes between 2 and 4 hours between feedings. He is awake off and on throughout the day, and goes to bed for the night between 1 and 2 a.m. and sleeps until about 10 a.m (with one feeding in-between - usually around 5:30ish).
At 4 1/2 weeks he can:
*Eat every 2 -4 hours
*Sleep (still a lot, but is awake more)
*Cry (and Mom is learning the differences)
*Smile (mostly for Mom but a little for Dad too)
*Coo
*Suck on fist or pointer finger
*Hold his head up

Happy Mother's Day!

This picture is for you mom... I finally caught one of those huge yawns that Isaac has.

Isaac had his debut last night at worship team. He was a little nervous but did great.

Happy Mother's Day Mom! We love you lots and wouldn't you know I picked a picture from the trip that made you a Grandma. Whether it's as a mom or a grandma, you rock! I couldn't imagine life without you, your advice, your support and your encouragement. I hope Isaac will cherish me, as I do you. Thank you for being such an important part of our lives. We love you!

A shout out from the littlest one.....
Happy 1st Mother's Day Mom. I love you!

This is one of the most priceless moments ever. Isaac had had other smiles, but I was finally able to catch one on camera. He is changing so fast and I am so lucky to be his mom. He was the best gift I could have ever received.
Happy Mother's Day to all the Moms out there...

Meeting Liv

Isaac and I went to a baby shower for Michelle - a friend of mine who works at Two Springs (I took her job this year and she became the vision consultant - Consequently - she still is at T.S. b/c I have a student who is deaf/blind dually impaired).

Isaac got to meet his new friend Liv Kamdynn Loghry. She was born two week after Isaac, but 3 weeks before her due date. She was 8 pounds at birth. Even so, Isaac looks huge compared to her. We all had to laugh at how big he is. It's easy to forget how much they grow so soon - but one of my paraprofessionals reminded me that Liv is actually considered premature... she would have been just as big as Isaac if she had gone full-term (Her mom was severely pre-eclamptic).

I was trying to get a picture of Isaac's first real smile, you know... not because of gas while he is sleeping... but a real, awake, I meant to do it smile. It was a failed effort, but I did get this great close up of his face. Man I love this kid.

What a great Mother's Day this will be! I got the best gift ever.... to become a Mom.... I only hope I will continue to grow into being a great mother. I have a great example to learn from -Love ya Mom!!! - More to come on the Mother's Day thing later!

Chillin with Dad

As Isaac spends more time awake, he is finding comfortable positions to hang out in. He loves laying his head on your hand as you hold him. He is also grabbing on to whoever is holding him. Chad loves this about him and actually requested that I take this photo.

The Zoo

With the two older boys out of school today for a teacher in-service, we all decided to go to the zoo. It was Isaac's first trip, and he seemed to enjoy it.

We measured him against the monkey wall. He is a little smaller than a squirrel monkey. (He looks petrified!!!)
Chris invited his friend Melanie to go with us. The kids all got along really well. It's a little scary watching Chris interact with a girl. I don't know if we are ready for this part of life.

Way to Go Annie!!!

GRADUATION

Isaac and I travelled back to Clear Lake on Thursday so we could attend Annie's pinning and graduation ceremonies. I think I might have a been a little crazy to take an almost 3 week old baby in the car for 4 hours by myself. We had a rough time around Des Moines (lots of crying ... which meant stopping almost every 20 minutes).

We got into town around 3:00. After feeding and changing him, we went to First Citizens to meet Grandma's Co-Workers. Isaac was so good. Everyone loved him (and his hair).

Isaac also got to meet Tristan (Annie's Boyfriend). They seemed to like each other.

Friday was a busy day. Annie had her pinning ceremony (see pic with lab coat on). We went out to eat in between ceremonies and then went to Annie's graduation ceremony. My cousin Carl also graduated! We were all so proud of both of them.

I was surprised at how well this picture turned out (seeing as how I was a teary-eyed mess - likely due to pregnancy hormones still.... ummm.. yeah that's it - pregnancy hormones!).

Mom, Annie (with Isaac), Me and Dad

I also had time to go out to visit my grandparents.
Isaac got to meet his great-grandma & grandpa
We got a 4 generation picture

Isaac and I got home this afternoon. We were missed
by Chad and the other two boys (though I think Isaac might have been missed the most).
Isaac heard his first story from Shawn tonight!
David & Goliath - and - Daniel in the Lion's Den
It was so sweet...
I wish I had a picture looking back, but I was just enjoying the moment.
It was a great weekend... busy but great!
