Whew! Where did Spring Go?

Pictures from the Car Show and Seussical the Musical.

Speed Racer's Mach 5
Shawn with Thing 1 and Thing 2
We had a night out just the two of us. Shawn had a blast!
It was a very interactive show, and Shawn knew most of the songs since
he sang them in his concert!

The BMX show done each year at the Car Show.

Oh.... and did I mention that our spring weather took a vacation???

Shawn had his first spring soccer game this morning.
The temperature outside was 30 degrees. Not too bad...
until you add a windchill of 14 along with an open field from all directions!
We were wearing shorts and capris last week with temperatures near 80.

I am at 38 weeks now and still waiting patiently to meet our new little guy. I am getting the itch to do a lot of cleaning and organizing which I hear can be the last burst of energy before labor starts. Now I have to figure out whether or not I should follow my instinct to clean, or try to wait until at least the 1st of April.

Yucky.... all the way around!

The weather is yucky, being pregnant right now is yucky and knowing that family is sick and I can't visit is yucky!!!

The weather right now involves strong thunderstorms and tornadoes. If you know me.... I hate bad weather.

I am still having a lot of swelling with some cramping in my legs. This makes life very uncomfortable. I am not pleased with my current state of being. Plus the doctor said everything is still showing no signs of a baby soon. Though he did say that this state could change overnight. I am just thinking that I am ready to be home. The days of teaching are seeming long.

My grandma is not well and I can't travel to visit her. This is difficult as it would be nice to be with family. She is currently in the hospital and decisions for future care are currently being made. I just pray she will be okay until BB(baby boy)Thomson is here.

Otherwise .... life is good. I have pictures to share but I left my camera at school today. We went to the World of Wheels car show this weekend. The boys got their picture taken with SpeedRacer. We also enjoyed the BMX Freestyle show.

Chris started his roller hockey season last week. He had his first game tonight. The team won! Chris had 5 assists out fo the 8 goals scored!

Baby Update!

Just a quick update to let everyone know what Baby Thomson is up to these days.

He is only about 3 1/2 weeks from his due date and continues to be very busy!

He is now in the head down position and looks like he's headed in the right direction. The doctor is guessing his weight to be about 6 lbs right now and has predicted that his birth weight will be around 7 lbs 4 oz. We will have to see if he's right!

I am doing well - however having conferences this week really made my legs swell with water retention. 12 1/2 hours on my feet isn't the best.

We are ready and looking forward to meeting our little guy.... we will keep you posted if anything changes.

Getting Closer

With only about 4 1/2 to 5 weeks to go, we are getting closer! We went at about 33 weeks pregnant and had some pictures taken of our family and the baby belly. I posted just a few from the photo shoot. We are glad they were taken, but I have been surprised at how much bigger my stomach looks in the pictures, and at how fast I seem to be growing these days!

This weekend we are at about 35 weeks, and I got reminded (thanks mom) that I had not updated the blog much in the past month. Where does the time go? We still do not have a name picked out but we have a few options we like. Here's a belly pic from this afternoon - 3/8/09
We had company this weekend. My mom and dad along with my sister and her boyfriend cam to visit. It is always nice to have time with family, and the next time we see them it will probably be after the baby is born. I think they were surprised with the baby's room and all the "stuff" we have so far. I came to the quick realization of how pregnant I am when we went shopping this weekend. I can't wait to go back to New York & Company (and actually fit in the clothes!).
Mom bought me a pair of comfy 'jamas to wear at the hospital. My grandma did it for my mom and now it was her turn to pass along the tradition.
We basically didn't have any plans for the weekend. It was relaxing and enjoyable. I am so thankful for such a great family. We always hate to see them leave. ( p.s. - Shawn sat at the window until you drove down the street saying "I wish they never had to leave. When can they come back....tomorrow?).
I will try to be better about updates between now and the baby' s arrival, though I can't promise. Shawn and Chris are in Swim lessons, we start soccer and roller hockey in a few weeks, Chad and I are both crazy busy at work, and I am still taking Master's classes (Did someone mention that I might be crazy??? What was I thinking adding pregnancy on to all that???....)
Well - We only live once right!

Finished Baby Room

Finally finished everything in the baby's room... got curtains, washed all the bedding and purchased baskets for the changing table. We are ready for our baby boy to arrive... though not too soon!!!

Sledding on a Sunday

We took the boys sledding on Sunday afternoon. They had a blast.... Shawn even met a telephone box up close and personal (that was scary!). If you look between the trees, you'll be able to see where he got the one on one introduction.

We met our neighbors (sort of - Their grandparents live right next to us) at the hill. It is amazing how the kids have all grown during the winter.

One more trip down the hill!!!
Time for a break .... funny how Shawn is always ready for a photo.

The afternoon was filled with fun... however, we had to teach the boys about safety. Unfortunately another child created a jump and after going over it, got hurt very badly. They had to call 911 and the person was taken away on a stretcher/ambulance.
It could have been Shawn with his telephone box incident. They just think they are invincible and sadly, as parents, we know they are not.

Snow Storm

Just a quick little update....

We are now at 32 weeks pregnant, patiently awaiting the arrival of our baby boy. We are still taking name suggestions... hoping to settle on something so he is not called baby boy Thomson in the hospital.

Today was supposed to be my one day off without anyone else at home, and I got to be the stay at home mom and go to my kids' Valentine's Parties. I had grand hopes of cleaning, relaxing and getting ahead on my homework. Well, that all came to a crashing halt at 5:45 this morning. The kids' school called off school with the "prediction" of snow. At 8:00 there still was no snow even falling. I was more frustrated than ever. However, shortly thereafter (around 9:00) we got a few flurries. As we drove to have the van fixed, the snow increased. While getting the van fixed, Chad called to say that Offutt Air Force Base was closing. Great!!! Now I have everyone home with me instead of no one.

Overall - the day turned out good. The weather did end up being pretty bad. We probably have at least 6 inches of snow on the ground and it is still snowing. It just goes to show that your day might not always turned out as you planned, but alternate plans can be just as good.

The boys are visiting their mom (she is in Omaha) for the next two nights. Chad and I are going to actually go to the movies and dinner for Valentine's Day.

Hope you all have a very happy heart day and spread the love to those around you.
