We went to Clear Lake for the 4th of July celebration. I will post more pictures from the 4 day visit later, but I had to get this one on here now. It has to be my new favorite picture!

We are gonna be Best Buddies!

YEAH... My buddy Malachi is finally here!
I can hardly contain myself!
Please Mom...
Can we go play right now?
Can he come home with us?
PLEASE, Pretty PLEASE?

I am so happy to have my new buddy here.
Malachi and I are gonna be best buddies!
Dear Malachi -

I have waited almost 3 months for you to come out so we can play together. I am so glad you came early. Your mom said that you would come on June 30th, but I know how we babies can be. It's probably a good thing you listened to your mom. She is very happy to have you here. My mom says that we will get to see each other lots. Our big brothers are friends too. I can't wait for us to be friends. Welcome to the world! I am glad you're here!

Love,
Isaac

As you can see Isaac found his fingers. They are so good, he wouldn't even take them out for a picture at the hospital. I love that gummy little smile... with fingers and all!

Isaac isn't quite sure what to think of the baby who won't smile back at him. He recently figured out mirrors and just loves to smile at himself.

Malachi looks like he is done with pictures (NO more pictures please!)

Today we went to meet Dr. Toth (He's the pediatrician that Isaac will see from now on - He saw my doctor for his last two visits because of insurance). Dr. Toth was great and Isaac loved him.

Busy, Destructive Weekend

I have no new pictures to post... yet. After reading the happenings of the weekend, you will understand why.

Friday Night
Chad and I decided to go out to eat early with the thought of coming home to relax and watch a movie. I would then be able to complete my last two pieces of paperwork for my 5th class towards my Master's Degree. Well somewhere in the midst of our dinner conversation, we decided that we needed to walk some of dinner off. Great Idea! We decided to walk it off by looking for new living room furniture. Quickly our evening became wrapped around the process of buying a new couch and either a loveseat or a recliner. Last time we looked (about 2 weeks ago) nothing in the stores was even close to what we wanted. We walked back in to Nebraska Furniture Mart, after having been to other Omaha furniture stores, with the idea of revisiting a sofa set that we looked at 2 weeks previous. However, upon entering the store we discovered that they no longer carried that sofa! WHAT!!!

See you must first understand that we had very specific criteria
1. Must have fabric - No Faux Suede, No Leather
(This makes sofa shopping quicker because the faux suede is the new hit thing - I guess)
2. Must be able to seat at least 4 preferably 5 people comfortably.
3. Needs at least one reclining seat, but 2 would be better.
(This could be a recliner or a couch with a recliner included)

With this criteria in mind, we started our search all over again. Knowing that the other stores had nothing even close, we ended the evening looking at NFM. Fortunately, we met a great salesman and he showed us 3 sets that met all of our criteria! Talk about a time saver (granted by this time it is already 8:00 at night!). We fell in love with one set immediately and had a back up in case the first set wouldn't fit in our house. Needless to say, we wrote up a slip and went home to measure.

8:36 - We arrive at home
8:43 - place phone call back to NFM to have salesman double check actual furniture measurements
8:52 - Call salesman again to check the depth of the furniture and the needed distance from the wall.
9:00 - Decide that we will have to go back again tomorrow to be 100% sure of our purchase.
9:15 - Chad suddenly devises an alternate plan for the living room.... which includes complete rearrangement and extreme makeover.

FYI - by the time we got to bed... I still had not completed my schoolwork and we did not watch much T.V. or a movie like we planned.

Saturday
Chad went to lay cement with a friend and I got Isaac fed, changed and napped in the morning.

We headed back to NFM at around 1:00.

With the new living room plan in mind, we had to look at TV tables (since the flat screen would have to come off of the wall). As long as we could find something under $250 we could get everything (couch, loveseat/recliner, and TV table).

The lady in the desk/shelving area was extremely unhelpful which was sad. She ended up selling us a piece that was displayed as a TV stand, but in reality was intended to be the top of a display cabinet. This does not work, because there are no supports for heavy items (such as a TV). However, we did not find this out until we purchased it and took it home, along with the two pieces of furniture (which will be picked up later in this story).

Because the table would not work, it had to go back to the warehouse. Chad had to get an alternate (on his own because I was at church) and pick it up along with the two pieces of furniture. By this time, it is almost 7:00 again. Wow - Time flies when you are having fun!

I returned home from church to find 2 full-sized couches and a double recliner along with a box that held a new TV table. In the Kitchen, I found our old rocker recliner and the coffee table.

What a mess!!!
Sunday
We had to disassemble the TV from the wall, put together the TV stand, take the dog to get his hair cut, go grocery shopping, prep old living room furniture for sale, wash and iron clothes for Chad and I had to get my two papers done and turned in for my class... oh and take care of an 11 week old peanut. Whew!
I will hopefully have pictures soon. We are posting our old furniture on Craigslist tonight and hope to have it sold before we leave this weekend. In the meantime, I am enjoying a little bit of peace and trying to reassemble our house.

First Time....

First Time
Grilling on his new grill
(It was his Father's Day gift from the kids and I)

We made Kabobs. They were great! It was also our first time making those!
First Time
Swimming in the pool this year
(for both Isaac and me)
First Time
In a swimsuit
for Isaac... the first time ever
for me... since starting to show that I was pregnant
(almost a year ago)

Isaac liked the water, though we needed to get in the pool about a half hour earlier I think. We went swimming for about 15 minutes. He didn't cry or fuss at all. In fact he just relaxed and looked around. I can't wait till he is 6 months old (okay yes I can... because he already seems to be growing too fast! But anyway...) at 6 months, we can take a mommy and me swim class! I am so excited! I really want him to learn to swim early, especially since we have the pool in the backyard.

Happy Father's Day!

Visit to Clear Lake

Finally....

I have not had any luck loading pictures from this past weekend until tonight. GRRR!

Well - Chad and I went back to Clear Lake last weekend to visit family and celebrate with Annie.

Isaac got to meet 2 more of my aunts (and my cousin Brittany - Brit - I will try to load a picture tomorrow!)

Relaxing with Aunt Jodie
Hanging out with Aunt Julie
Isaac is too little to use his gift from the Aunts and Uncles,
but we are VERY thankful for the Exersaucer they gave us this weekend!
Pictures will definitely be posted when he is big enough to use it!

Grandma Carol has a creative bone too!
She made Isaac a hat to wear so that his ears are covered in the wind.
It's even Air Force Friendly!
Chad tried it on... but I think he'd have my neck if I posted the picture...
Maybe I will get brave and post it anyway (HeHe)

Ike loves his Aunt Annie

We surprised Annie on Friday night, and then again on Saturday.
The whole family met at Godfather's and celebrated Annie's accomplishments!
As you can see.... Isaac found his fingers recently.
MMM... Who needs a cookie when you have fingers?
