Track and Field

I love my kids.  I love watching them enjoy activities.  I love seeing them be active.
I love sitting on the sidelines and cheering them on.  I love meeting other moms who
are there to do the same thing.

I learned a new lesson on Friday however.
I do NOT love Track and Field.

Don't get me wrong.  I still love seeing my kid on the track and having fun but the whole idea of sitting around waiting nearly an hour for him to run the hurdles for 10.26 seconds, while trying to entertain a 3 year old who doesn't understand why his brother won't play with him.... is hard and rather boring really.

Nevertheless - Chris did great - Don't really understand the "enjoyment" of the sport but hey - Whatever floats your boat I guess.

We will work on his form for the hurdles though!

Pushing through to the end!

Thankfully, we also got to enjoy a 7 minute mile run.   (Yep - a little sarcasm there!)
In 2nd Place

Run Forest Run!
(We were laughing at his hair in this picture!)

There he goes.
He finished in 9th place overall for the mile run.  I think he would have done better overall had he not shot to the front in the beginning and tried to keep pace with the leader for a lap and a half.   But I can't run a 7 minute mile so he major steps ahead of me!

The Lower Deck

When we first moved in to our house in June of 2006, the first "couple" project we tackled was the upper deck.  We completely tore it down.

We would work into the night by way of flood light.

Last summer we took out the pool.  The big kids were never here in the summer (ironic as they will both be here this summer!) and I was freaked out that Isaac would fall in and drown.

Anyway we spent last summer fixing the yard, laying sod, getting rid of everything pool related.

This summer our project was going to be the bottom deck.
I guess we decided it should be a spring project with a due date of next weekend - for Isaac's birthday party.

Here is where we are at tonight.

Hoping the bad weather doesn't destroy it after all the hard work has been done.  Hoping tomorrow the deckboards can go on and be ready to go.

Bithday Celebration

Isaac's Birthday Celebration(s)

Started off the morning at Daycare - Sherri's House
She always puts up the birthday sign and giant balloons!
The Birthday boy or girl gets to pick their color first.
Isaac chose red.

Brayden, Cameron, Shannon, and Isaac

When we got home, we played outside with Murphy.

and played a little baseball.

Later, when he finally started to show signs of wearing
we came inside for cake (and ice cream in the cake)

Hope you made a good wish
I think he wished for no more time outs at daycare b/c we have not had a physical incident since he turned 3... BIG DEAL!

Then he opened up his gifts.
It's bigger than me!

Opening....

It's so tall!

Still haven't even noticed what it is.

A funny thing I want to remember from this birthday...

When Opening the big gift (and the little one too for that matter)
Isaac insisted on getting every last piece of wrapping paper off of it.
He didn't even realize it was a basketball hoop because he was so intent on getting
the last piece of paper off the top of the package.

Silly Boy!

Happy 3rd Birthday Lil' Man.

     * Bedtime - especially on nice nights

A few funnies to leave you with .....

Dad: "I love you all the way to the moon."
Isaac: "I love you all the way to the dirt!"

At bedtime -
Mom: "I love you peanut butter."
Isaac: "I love you delly (jelly)"

After watching Toy Story
while running around the house in his cape (i.e. nigh nigh blanket)
"To beten da be and be on!"

"Oh mom - Stop your nonsense!" (and he was totally serious!)

While picking at his scab on his knee -
"Ope yep, I see some blood."

On Saturday (April 7) - as he climbs into Mom's lap
"Yep mom, it's true. I am getting to be a big boy.  I am not a baby anymore.  Gonna be 3 on my birfday."

Isaac -

I continue loving being your mommy.  You make it all worth it.  A rough day at work suddenly melts when you give a hug or a kiss and "make it all better."  It has been fun to watch you pull away from me a bit and latch on to your daddy.  You love being his "helper" and I love watching you.  You are still your oldest brother's little shadow and you love watching both brothers play their instruments.  I wonder what you will play when you get older.  For now, I am just soaking up all the snuggles and quiet moments with you in my arms as I realize that all too soon you will also be as big as your brothers.  That makes me a bit sad.  I find it very hard to believe that you are already 3.  I look at the pictures of your birth day and feel the emotion as if it was yesterday.  You are one of the best things in my life and simply put.... I wouldn't change any of it.  Not even your biting and fighting and sassy comebacks (whew - you are good at those).  Okay - so the biting gets a bit old, but I know you are just trying to figure out how to play with your friends.

I love you all the way to the moon and back.
I will love you forever and like you for always - as long as your are living - my baby you will be!

Happy 3rd Birthday Isaac!
