August Came.... and August went!

So as August comes to a close - I thought I should post all the busy things going on this last month.

We check on the house daily.  After two weeks of ZERO progress, we are back on track.  The ceilings are all done, the walls are all up and drywalled.  Waiting for the final sanding to take place.  Then we should hopefully be getting close to our 60 day no miss date!  There is an end in sight!

We made a trip to Kansas City - Oceans and Worlds of Fun

We made a family trip to the zoo.

The Arrows to Aerospace Parade took place.  Isaac was so excited to walk in his first parade.
These girls announced that they were marrying Isaac
(both of them - let's talk about our religion buddy!) after the parade.  Glad we didn't have any plans!

His favorite part was handing out the candy.
He walked the entire parade route - which I would guess to be about a mile and a half. (plus the pre-parade walk - to get to the start which added another half mile or so!)

Last weekend - We started Lil Raskels Soccer.
He wasn't so sure simply because he didn't know anyone.  But that quickly changed.  More on Soccer later - suffice it to say though - HE LOVES IT!

So Glad Fall is finally here!

Here's to all the fall activities.

One is in Cross Country
One is in Marching Band
and
One is in Swimming and Soccer

Gonna Be Busy - But we wouldn't have it any other way!

Minnesota Weekend

Not sure who's having more fun.... Isaac or Grandpa!
We travelled to MN for the Marching Band competition.  Before heading to the Metrodome, we stopped at the Mall of America.

We wandered and shopped a bit, but ultimately spent most of our time at the Lego Store (see above) and the Amusement park INSIDE!

Isaac chose to ride the Merry Go Round and the Slick Track Cars.

Hi Grandma and Grandpa!

Looks like a nice quiet ride.... till you get to the turn

and then it whips you around the corner and back into place.
Shawn opted for the multi-level challenge course.
I wish I had taken a shot from far away - He was up near the roof of the Mall!
This kid has NO FEAR at all....
It was fun to watch him enjoy it!

We did go to the Marching Competition in the afternoon.
No Cameras allowed... so no pics

East competed at 3:00.
Prelims ended around 5:00.
Placed 7th in prelims.

Finals started at 7:00; East went on at 8:15.

In between the shows, we walked to get some food.
It was the night of the Zombie Bar Crawl.
Isaac thought the costumes were super funny....
Thank Goodness - Since they were actually pretty creepy - Think Blood and such!

We went swimming every day, relaxed with Grandma and Grandpa, and overall had a nice (expensive) weekend out of town.

and to top it all off.... I got pink eye on the way home.
Super Fun!

Breakfast and Books - Pre-K style

Last weekend, Isaac and I went to the Early Childhood Center for Breakfast and books.  We read 5 books and then picked out one to bring home.  He picked "The Cat in the Hat."

You'll understand why.... Later this week!

Brings a tear to this Momma's eye

This was the very first event of my oldest son's high school career.

Holy Moly!

We are really at this stage... already!

Where did that little 6 year old boy go who was snuggled between on the couch, practicing his reading every night go?

So anyway, off we went to the Bellevue East Football Stadium....for the first football game of the year -
The Gatorade Scrimmage

Number 81

Ready on the sidelines to go it for the play.

In the huddle... here we go!

Not sure who might have been more nervous...
Chris or Us!

Just off the field from the play

In on the left side of the play this time.

Action Shot (#81)

Waiting for the play...

We are #1!
Go Chieftains!!!

Fall Fun

This morning,
Before Chris and Dad woke up
We got the raking done
Shawn, Isaac and me.

First - We raked all the leaves into a big pile.

Or used a shovel ~
Then took a running start ...

and JUMPED INTO THE LEAF PILE!!!

This was Isaac's first real leaf experience.
He thought it was funny.

Shawn showed off his mad jumping skills.

Both my helpers in the leaf pile!

Shawn being cute after one of his ninja jumps.
When all the jumping was done, we got busy putting the leaves in the bucket.

Isaac used the shovel.
I love his lips and how hard the work was
(or at least it looks that way with his lips pursed like that)

Getting another scoop

Gotta pat it down after you put them in.

My little helper!

Harvest Festival

Last weekend, we went back to Clear Lake for Harvest Fest.

The weather was PERFECT and we got to spend quality time with family.

That made for a FABULOUS weekend all-around.

Here are the highlights.

Highlight #1
 Halloween costume -
Found 2 I liked but Isaac was drawn to this one.
Tigger Costume - $6
Lion Costume - $4
Watching Isaac have a blast ROARING down main street - Priceless
Seeing the reaction and smiles on people's faces - Double Priceless!

Highlight #2
 Free Kids activities.
This one was Isaac's favorite - a little train powered by arm movements

Highlight #3 (&4)
#3 - Seeing my sister (aka Aunt Annie)
(Isn't she soooo pretty?  Love you sis!)
#4 - Finding Pumpkins and getting in the Fall mood.

#5
The pullback tractor that my uncle Jeff bought for Isaac and the enjoyment it brought.
One of the few times it is okay to tell your child, "Come on, let's play in the street."
Which leads to ...

Highlight #6
Corn - From Tyler (Melissa's Husband)
(note -see blog titled After the Knott was tied on my sidebar)

Highlight #7
 Running around Grandma's house playing
chase and hide n' seek.

Highlight #8
Having Annie to rescue Isaac!

Overall - Super Weekend away from the daily grind!
Thanks Mom and Dad for welcoming us and making us feel special when we are there.
I am lucky and so are my kids!
